Unhappy Ice Caves of Sorrow mission

Today I have tried to complete this mission 8 times. is it me or is it hard to get a group mature enough get passed this?

I even offered gold for a solid group of people who have passed this mission with no luck. any tips, offers or whatnot would be greatly appreciated.

im just baffled

When PUGs let you down it's henchmen to the rescue! I never even bother with finding an actual group on that mission anymore. I immediately go with henchmen.

When in doubt use henchmen, they are as good as you let them be. if you charge in and aggro everything, they'll do the same. If you sit back and selectively pick off mobs so will they.

As for suggestions on how to do the mission

1) avoid the mursaat at all costs, save the bonus for later
2) blow up the escape route first and clear it up to the bridge, avoiding the large group of mursaat that are going to want to wander along that path shortly after you move into it. They'll kill most of the mobs leaving you very few to deal with and then die to the artillery on the bridge. When the path is clear, go let the prisoners free, with the clear path you don't need to keep as close an eye on your allies to make sure they don't die.

dargon is very right. Never, ever, attract the attention of the Mursaat... unless your group happens to be all infused. Take groups of White Mantle on in the caves carefully, making sure not to wander too close to the Mursaat hanging around there. And, as dargon said, wait for the giant group of Mursaat to pass and proceed across your escape route as you're running to the ice ship. You can probably follow a decent distance behind them fairly safely, and watch as they walk into bombardments and die a pitiful death, but not before clearing just about all your enemies on the way.

Basically, like dargon said, stay the hell away from the Mursaat. There will be patrols running around in certain outdoor areas, so wait for them to pass before you do whatever you need to do. As for finding a group mature enough to do this, my only advice is to look for a group, and especially a leader, that seems patient and makes a decent effort to outline some of the guidelines for the mission. Usually people who behave intelligently will be intelligent enough to avoid the Mursaat.

If Mursaat comes along your path before infusion..that probabably means you've taken wrong path...

Yeah this mission can be a pain especially so many people don't realize the infusion part.

My necromancer needs to do this mission so if you haven't done it by Jan 2nd, perhaps we can do it together? I already did the mission and bonus with my ranger.

This may be obvious... but don't forget to take out the siege machine at the beginning. Stone Summits and whatnot down on the frozen lake, hit the Firing Lever. And, um, some groups like to run through the siege area to get to the next group of baddies. Not recommended.

And as everyone else said, be VERY aware of the Mursaat patrols.

You will need 3 barrels: one to open the first gate; one to open the jail cell; one to open the last gate. Sometimes we grab 3 right away from the first pile (casters of course) so we can really keep clear of the large Mantle and Mursaat groups patrolling near the jail cell.

[Even if you got infused and wanted a challenge, and wanted to take on a group of Mursaat? Remember that Evennia is NOT infused and will die and your mission will fail.]

Good luck!

Hey, running through the siege area is fun. Especially if you have that monk Dolyak master boss who just refuses to die on your tail. One time my entire party spent about twenty minutes hacking away at him, and only him, but he just refused to die. We decided to drag him through the siege area in an effort to get rid of him. Needless to say, we died pretty fast, but the monk managed to drag the boss in, get him killed, and cap before she died. So remember... massive area of effect damage can be useful. =P

As others have said, just do this mission with henchmen. I've done it twice, and it was fairly easy. Even took out all of the small groups of Mursaat without being infused (crazy, I know, but they actually go down pretty easily ).

On my first run through, I wasn't thinking, and I freed Evennia and Saidra before clearing the path to the ship and watching the large group of Mursaat get blown to pieces. However, since the Mursaat move slow, I was able to stay ahead of them by just running past all the Stone Summit (note: do not stop to fight the Summit if you do it this way; I did this with one of the early groups and the Mursaat almost caught up with me). I did have to kill one of the Mursaat at the end, but that was simple enough to manage.

My second run through, I played smart and cleared a path before freeing the prisoners, and it went off perfectly.

A friend of mine did it with henchmen too, playing her R/Mo character, and she got through it just as easily as I did, and even took out some of the Mursaat as well (again, uninfused, though she ended up with a bit higher DP than I did). She did the last part the smart way the first time, though, unlike me.

I have, until now, 4 diferent chars (Warrior, Elementalis, Monk and Ranger) that have made this mission.
Still have to do it 2 more times (Mesmer in desert missions and Necro in kryta)

I must say like many people said before, that this mission is very easy to do with enchs, as long as you know how to control them, i remember to fail this mission only 2 times, and guess what, the 2 time i'm in a full team of pug's.

The first fail was, mission start and one of the warriors just start runnning to the mursaat group, it was a really fast dead.

So don't be afraid and go with a full hench team, it's easy and you almost have full control of everyone.

Yes is a lot more fun to play with real players, and most of the time i've go with pug's but...

Actually, if you just wait for the group of Mursaat to pass and follow behind, they take out all the Stone Summit for you. Then they conveniently place themselves under catapult fire and all die.

Default Ice Cave of Sorrow Map

I finished this mission with a hench party. I found this in http://www.gamefaqs.com, I thought you guys might wanna check this out. Credit for the map is not me tho...

* If you get to the part wherein you've rescued Evennia and Saidra has sacrificed herself, you might want to stop at the end of the cave before the Mursaat legion waiting at the rightside from the mouth of the cave. If you just hold your horses they will start to move and they will clear the path for you, eventually all of the Mursaat will die due to being endlessly sieged. *

I know, but as I said, I wasn't thinking at that moment. I did let them pass on my second run through the mission.

Nice thing is, even though the Mursaat kill all the Stone Summit along the way, you can still cap skills from the bosses if you bring a signet of capture (I didn't think to do this myself, naturally).
